The editorial director of an Australian architecture publishing house has taken up the position of Head of the School of Architecture at The University of Queensland.
Dr Cameron Bruhn starts his new role after being associated with the school for twenty years, beginning with his Bachelor's Degree in 1998.
He has been the editorial director of Architecture Media for nearly a decade and has worked as an adjunct professor at UQ for the past two years.
“My vision is for a school that offers a partnership for a life in architecture – a school that anticipates and nurtures the increasing diversity of an architectural career,” he said.
“The School of Architecture has a contract with each and every student, teacher and researcher to support their personal trajectory in Architecture.”
Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Information Technology Executive Dean Professor Vicki Chen said Dr Bruhn will be instrumental in boosting engagement for the school.
“Taking up this role is in many ways a natural progression in Dr Bruhn’s impressive career,” she said.
“He is ideally placed to further our industry and cultural partnership, and to bridge academic endeavours with those in practice.
“I would also like to take the opportunity to thank Professor Sandra Kaji-O’Grady for her leadership and outstanding contribution to the School and Faculty.”
Dr Bruhn said he hoped to expand the teaching and learning opportunities through programs that deliver future-focused outcomes.
“The challenge of the future is to collaboratively shape the School of Architecture within the local and global context of the university, the discipline and the profession.”
