With an annual research budget of $56m, the Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Information Technology provides a rich and diverse flow of breakthrough technologies that are helping to improve communities around the world.

From novel hydrogen storage and next-generation polymers to biomedical engineering and mining safety, our research outcomes are solving problems for local and international communities, and our industry partners.

Our commercially oriented research has developed many novel and relevant technologies that have led to new commercial products via licensing or start-up companies.

The most recent Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) assessment ranked all of our disciplines as world-class or above.

Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Information Systems, and Materials Engineering all received the maximum 5 star rating. In other words, the combined breadth and strength of this University is unparalleled in Australia.
