Introducing FutureWork Immersion: Take your career for a test-drive

Calling all undergraduate and Masters Engineering, Architecture and IT (EAIT) students to participate in FutureWork Immersion.

What is FutureWork Immersion?

FutureWork Immersion is a new initiative presented by EAIT Employability, offering an opportunity to connect with industry and experience 'a day in the life' of your future career.

Students will spend half a day inside an industry workplace relevant to their degree. They will be given a project, case-study or issue to work on in groups, with the opportunity to workshop ideas and solutions with industry professionals. You won’t just listen to advice—you’ll roll up your sleeves, put your skills to the test, and show how you think.

Why participate?

In this hands-on workshop session you’ll get the chance to:

  • Contribute to solving industry challenges and explore where innovation is headed
  • Engage directly with industry professionals and make a lasting impression
  • Develop practical skills and experience for your resume and solid examples to reference in future job interviews.
  • Gain a unique insight into your future career and understand the skills and ideas employers expect from graduates.

FutureWork is an opportunity to experience what working in your field is really like, while making industry connections.

What to expect

Each FutureWork session is unique, and experiences or length may vary. Typically, sessions will run for approximately 4 hours and include:

  • Welcome, meet the team and office tour
  • Introduction to the case study or industry challenge
  • Group collaboration in student teams with industry mentors
  • Groups present their ideas, receive feedback and Q&A
  • Networking to learn more about career pathways and opportunities

Multiple FutureWork immersions will run throughout the year, each designed in collaboration with industry partners for Undergraduate and Masters students in the Faculty of EAIT. Look out for a FutureWork immersion session that aligns with your career interest and get prepared before you graduate.
