We are excited to invite all UQ alumni located in the Midlands and the North of England to our inaugural alumni networking reception on Tuesday 4 June 2024.
The reception offers a fantastic opportunity to engage with fellow UQ graduates from the region, share your experiences, reconnect with old friends, and forge new connections. It will also be a chance to connect with UQ leadership and hear about the latest exciting developments at your alma mater.
This special evening, will be hosted by the Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Information Technology (EAIT), Executive Dean, Professor Sue Harrison and Professor Jim Litster, UQ alumnus and Professor of Chemical and Pharmaceutical Engineering at the University of Sheffield.
Professor Sue Harrison is the Executive Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Architecture, and Information Technology at the University of Queensland. Previously, she was Deputy Vice-Chancellor at the University of Cape Town (UCT), where she also served as Head of Chemical Engineering. With over 35 years in innovation and research, she has contributed significantly to biotechnology and bioeconomy strategies in South Africa. Sue is a Chemical Engineer with expertise in resources, minerals, water, and health
Jim Litster is Professor of Chemical and Pharmaceutical Engineering at the University of Sheffield where he was Head of Department from 2016-2021 and Vice President and Head of Faculty of Engineering from 2021-2023. He has previous academic appointments at Purdue University in the USA (2007-2015) and The University of Queensland (1987-2007). At UQ, he was Head of Chemical Engineering from 2000-2004 and Head of School of Engineering from 2005-2007.
