First Nations Camp

Dream big and discover your potential - this camp is designed to inspire Australian Indigenous students to explore the exciting worlds of Engineering, Architecture, Computer Science, Information Technology, Design, and Planning.
Over the five-day camp, you will participate in a wide range of interactive and fun activities led by UQ academics, student ambassadors, and our industry partners. These activities include workshops, guest speakers, and networking training and events focused on the Engineering, Architecture, Information Technology, Computer Science, Design and Planning (EAIT) disciplines.
Students are sure to enjoy themselves and learn about each discipline to become more confident and direct their future plans.
This camp will be held on our beautiful St Lucia campus with visits to other locations in metropolitan Brisbane. Students will be given a tour of the EAIT buildings and all that they have to offer.
Please submit your application as soon as possible as spaces are limited.
Eligibility:
- You are a domestic student currently residing in Australia
- You are Australian Aboriginal, or Australian Torres Strait Islander, or both
- You are in grade 10, 11 or 12 (as of 2025)
- You are studying STEM subjects such as mathematics and science in High School
- You are interested in attending a university
Cost:
This camp is fully funded with donations from industry partners and The University of Queensland. All travel costs, accommodation and meals for the participating students are paid for.
Students are welcome to bring money for additional purchases, if desired.
Key Dates:
- Applications are now open.
- Applications close Friday 4 April 2025.
- Applicants will be notified in late April 2025.
- The Camp will commence on Monday 30 June and students will depart Friday 4 July 2025.

The following documents are required to be included with your application:
- Complete sections 1, 3, and 4 of the downloaded application form
- Photo ID
- Section 2 completed by the student (can be attached separately to the form)
- Confirmation of Aboriginality (can be attached separately to the form)
- Latest school report
- Letter of recommendation from your school
- Students Resume/Curriculum Vitae
Successful applicants will be required to also provide:
- A passport-sized colour photo of you (please ensure this isn’t blurry)
- Image Consent Release form
- Complete consent form and medical information
