The University of Queensland is playing a key role in policy and research to attract investment in new energy projects and sustainable hydrogen supply in Queensland, supporting the global transition to a low emissions future.
The Chair of the Queensland Government Hydrogen Taskforce - established to focus on delivering a globally attractive destination for hydrogen investment - is Professor Peta Ashworth, Chair of Sustainable Energy Futures at UQ and Director of the Andrew N. Liveris Academy for Innovation and Leadership.
Professor Ashworth’s expertise in the areas of social license to operate and community engagement is critical for establishing a hydrogen industry at scale, which was echoed by Queensland Deputy Premier Steven Miles in and address to Japanese business leaders in Tokyo on 13 June 2022.
