What do you love most about your degree?

I love what I get to learn about, and I love how much I get to learn. It’s a lot of work and it gets really hard sometimes, but that makes it all the more satisfying when I remember what something means or when I get a problem right without looking at the answers every five seconds.

If you could give one piece of advice to someone considering studying at UQ, what would that be?

My one piece of advice would be to not be too hard on yourself, especially during the first year. No shame in falling behind. As early as the first year, learning where you can get help and figuring out what ways you most effectively catch up and stay on top of work, will serve you well throughout your following years.

What’s been your favourite course so far and why?

One of my favourite courses has been MECH2305. Learning to use CAD and CAM—something I had only little experience in—was enjoyable. During my CNC practical in the AEB workshop, it was interesting to see our CAM toolpath machine the bushing component we created.
