Degree: Bachelor of Engineering (Software)
Who or what made you choose to study this?
My journey into software engineering was born from a lifelong intrigue with technology, with my programming endeavours beginning at age ten. Choosing this path was about honing a childhood passion into professional expertise, shaping programs and software with precision and creativity.
What do you love most about your degree?
What I absolutely cherish about my degree at UQ is how it’s grounded in real-world practice. It’s more than just theory; we dive into projects that mimic what we’d face in a job after graduation, which is rare to find elsewhere. It's not every day you get to learn from professors who've been to places around the globe and bring that rich experience back to the classroom.
What’s been your favourite course so far and why?
My top pick from all the courses has to be CSSE6400. It's been an absolute beast of a challenge, in the best way possible. Even with some industry experience under my belt, I assumed setting up servers and backend systems would be a breeze. This course took it to another level, having us simulate a million ticket sales on AWS as if we were in the thick of the tech industry.
