Who or what made you choose to study this?

Growing up in the 2000s, my fascination with Artificial Intelligence (AI) was kindled by my father, who often spoke of its transformative potential. He would share stories about my uncle, who earned a PhD related to AI in Pakistan during the 1990s, painting a picture of a future where technology could significantly impact our lives. These discussions not only nurtured my curiosity but also sowed the seeds for my passion in the field. Coupled with a personal journey of exploration and self-discovery, this familial inspiration ultimately guided me to pursue a Bachelor of Computer Science with a focus on Machine Learning at UQ. This decision reflects a blend of my family's influence and my own aspirations to contribute to the evolving landscape of technology.

What do you love most about your degree?

What I love most about my degree is the sheer potential of Machine Learning to revolutionise the way we interact with technology and the world around us. I am genuinely fascinated by its capabilities – from the theoretical underpinnings to the practical applications that seem to border on the realm of science fiction. The prospect of diving deep into this field, whether through research, a PhD, or hands-on project work, excites me beyond measure. It's not just about the technology itself but the possibility of creating solutions that can significantly impact society in ways we are just beginning to explore.

Additionally, the emerging field of XR (Extended Reality) captivates me with its endless possibilities. The idea that we are only scratching the surface of what can be achieved with XR technology fuels my desire to contribute to its growth and explore its potential applications further. Whether it's enhancing the way we learn, transforming how we connect with each other, or creating entirely new experiences, XR represents a frontier I am eager to explore. My degree has provided a solid foundation for me to explore these technologies, and I am passionate about pushing the boundaries, shedding light on the untapped potential of XR, and being at the forefront of innovation in this exciting area.
