Industry Placement
Separate from this is any level of supervision required to provide professional engineering services in the jurisdiction you are working in or providing services to. For example, if you are providing professional engineering services in Queensland, or to a project in Queensland, you must be supervised by a RPEQ in compliance with the Professional Engineers Act of Queensland. Other jurisdictions will have different requirements. If you are not working in Queensland, you should check what these are. If you are unsure, ask you supervisor. It is your responsibility, and the responsibility of your supervisor, to ensure you are meeting professional engineering requirements where you are working.
*Supervisors who do not hold an engineering qualification but hold an equivalent or related qualification may be approved on a case-by-case basis by the Faculty. Email your request for approval to employability@eait.uq.edu.au.
You cannot be supervised by a near relative or close associate as this would be a conflict of interest. Examples of near relatives are parents, partners and siblings. Examples of close associates are friends and neighbours.

Travel related to your unpaid Placement
If, for your unpaid placement, you are travelling more than 50km from your usual place of residence that requires an overnight stay, you must complete the relevant EAIT Travel Approval Form. This form must be submitted and approved to be covered under UQ’s Travel Insurance. Please note the travel form is not required if you are employed by the placement company.
If you have any other questions, please contact EAIT Employability.
Changing your placement details and other issues
If there are any changes to your originally submitted placement details, or you are experiencing any other issues during the process, please contact EAIT Employability via email as soon as possible, employability@eait.uq.edu.au.
After your industry placement
Seek confirmation from your industry supervisor by completing the Placement Verification Survey.
On the last day of your industry placement, you will receive an email prompting you to complete the Placement Verification Survey. This is an important step to being able to claim your industry placement in your EPP Hub as it is how the Faculty verifies your industry placement hours with your placement supervisor.
The email will contain a link to the survey that you will need to complete and submit.
Once you have submitted your survey, your supervisor will then also receive an email to confirm your placement via the Placement Verification Survey. Please note that your supervisor will have access to your survey responses.
You will have seven (7) days from the end of your placement to complete the survey. After you submit your survey, your supervisor will have fourteen (14) days to complete their survey.
Please note that you won’t be able to claim your placement in the EPP Hub if the placement verification survey has not been completed by both you and your supervisor. If you or your supervisor did not receive an email after your placement, or you have any other issues with the survey then please contact EAIT Employability on employability@eait.uq.edu.au
The Faculty will check the completed survey(s) after your placement claim is submitted for approval.
Submit your reflections
Submit your assessment via UQ Blackboard
Write your four (4) reflections in line with the Engineers Australia Stage 1 Competencies as per the Reflection Assessment Writing guidelines; and
Submit your reflections to Blackboard for marking. Refer to the Reflections Assessment Submission guide for instructions on submitting your reflections.
You must submit your reflections on the SEAL Reflections Form.
Students are reminded to familiarise themselves with the Student Integrity and Misconduct Policy and to ensure that all information submitted is accurate and all reflections are entirely the student’s own work, or sources are referenced appropriately.
Marking of reflections is managed by Schools; therefore, we are unable to advise when your assessment will be marked.
If you have submitted your assessment by the deadline, you can expect it to be marked with priority and in time for graduation checks. Time is allowed in the process to enable students to resubmit if needed to graduate on time.
If your assessment has been marked with a Pass, it will display on Blackboard. If your assessment has been marked with a Fail, you will need to re-write your reflections and re-submit until you receive a Pass. Our team will clear your attempt in Blackboard to enable you to resubmit.
The use of artificial intelligence (AI) or machine translation (MT) may constitute misconduct under the Student Code of Conduct. This reflection task evaluates a student's ability, skills, and knowledge without the aid of AI. Students are advised that the use of AI and/or MT technology to develop responses and reflections is strictly prohibited. The use of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine translation (MT) in reflections is monitored and investigations will be undertaken where it is suspected that AI or MT has been used. As part of the investigation process, students may be required to attend an interview with a member of academic staff where they will be asked questions regarding their reflections. The investigation process will take time and may put your graduation eligibility at risk.
Your EPP Hub submission deadlines for graduation
Your EPP Hub must be submitted by Friday of week 9 in the semester you intend to graduate.
FAQs
Q: What is EPP Hub?
The new EPP system is referred to as EPP Hub. From Semester 1 2025, You will access your EPP Hub through StudentHub. This is where you will find the mandatory and optional activities that are required to complete as part of your EPP. You also use EPP Hub to log and track your progress and to submit your EPP for review.
